NSCM Clarinet Trio presents Brahms Three Ways April 30th

North Shore Chamber Music will present a matinée performance of "Brahms Three Ways" on April 30th at 3 PM at North Shore Community Baptist Church in Beverly, MA.  A favorite and oft-performed composer of chamber works by audiences and musicians alike, German Romantic Johannes Brahms's music will be featured this Spring. The program includes the relatively early 1st Cello Sonata and the  post-retirement works Clarinet Sonata No. 2 & Clarinet Trio .  Featuring NSCM Artists William Kirkley, clarinetKathryn Christensen Lieppman on the piano & Scott Thomas Lesser, cello. NSCM presents encore performance of Melody, Muse and Moonlight in Lynnfield March 11th

North Shore Chamber Music will present a repeat performance of "Melody, Muse and Moonlight" on March11th at 7:30 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lynnfield, MA.  The beautiful vocal melodies from a Mozart aria and Debussy chansons will be varied and arranged for cello and piano. The late cello sonatas of Debussy and Beethoven are featured, both composed as a cathartic release of inspiration after a long period of depression and lack of composition. The famous works musing on  lunar luminescence: Beethoven's Moonlight and Debussy's Clair de Lune will enlighten the audience in cello & piano versions. NSCM Clarinet Trio to perform in Littleton for Indian Hill's Bach's Lunch February 16th

North Shore Chamber Music will perform off the North Shore for the daytime recital series Bach's Lunch on Thursday, February 16. Presented by Indian Hill, two free hour-long concerts at 11 AM and 1:30 PM are offered to the public who is welcome to bring along a boxed lunch to munch. The clarinet trios of Beethoven and Brahms will be performed at Indian Hill Music, 36 King Street, Littleton, MA. The NSCM Clarinet Trio includes NSCM Artists William Kirkley, piano and Kathryn Christensen Lieppman, piano along with NSCM Co-Founder  Scott Thomas Lesser, cello. NSCM sends best wishes to Co-Founder Melissa Bull

Melissa Bull, Co-Founder of North Shore Chamber Music has moved to Kentucky on a year-leave of absence to share her musical talents full-time with a lucky congregation in Bowling Green. We will all miss her energy, passion, amiability, musicianship and leadership. We hope to continue to collaborate with her in the future. As for the future of NSCM Co-Founder Scott Thomas Lesser is teaming up with fellow NSCM Artists to continue our third season as scheduled with regular concerts at North Shore Community Baptist Church on February 26: Melody, Muse & Moonlight || April 30: Brahms Three Ways  || May 28th: Season Finale-Mixed Ensembles.

NSCM brings holiday cheer to Lynnfield with Christmas and Clarinet Trios

North Shore Chamber Music will present Christmas & Clarinet Trios on Saturday November 6th at 7 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lynnfield, MA. Featuring the joyful Clarinet Trio Op. 11 by Beethoven and the beautifully nostalgic Trio by Brahms. A variety of festive Christmas carols will also be performed. NSCM Quartet performs OFF the North Shore for two upcoming NE library concerts in November

North Shore Chamber Music will present repeat performances of last season's String Quartet concert for two New England public library concerts in November. Featuring works by Beethoven, Glass and Schumann, the NSCM Quartet will perform first on Saturday, November 5th at 7 PM at the York Public Library in York, Maine for their Fireside Classical Concert. Then on Sunday, November 13th at 3 PM at the Leominster Public Library in Leominster, Massachusetts for the Clara Lane Memorial Concert (billed as Indian Hill String Quartet, as NSCM Quartet members are all musicians in the Orchestra of Indian Hill). The NSCM Quartet includes Guest Artists Anabelle Tirado, violin and Amelia Ames, viola along with NSCM Co-Founders Melissa Bull, violin & Scott Thomas Lesser, cello. NSCM's 3rd season begins with a spooky October concert in Salem: Macabre String Quartets

Salem Classical and North Shore Chamber Music presents a chilling trio of works to kickoff the Halloween and NSCM season. Macabre String Quartets will be performed by the NSCM Quartet on Sunday October 9th at 7 PM at Salem Old Town Hall in Salem, MA.  The program features Bernard Herrmann's music from Hitchcock's classic thriller Psycho (1960) , Shostakovich's  String Quartet No. 8 (1960) and Schubert's tremendous "Death and the Maiden" String Quartet (1826). This evening concert is a great way to enjoy some hauntingly beautiful and at-times frightening music.  The NSCM Quartet includes Guest Artists Sarah M. Skinner, violin & Rebecca Hallowell, viola along with NSCM Co-Founders Melissa Bull, violin & Scott Thomas Lesser, cello. North Shore Chamber Music (NSCM) is excited to announce the dates for their 3rd annual 2016-2017 season of great chamber music presented in several venues on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Salem Classical presents NSCM for their first concert on October 9: Macabre String Quartets featuring music from the film Psycho, and deathly quartets by Shostakovich and Schumann at the Salem Arts Association in Salem.  NSCM returns to their home base at North Shore Community Baptist Church (NSCBC) in Beverly, MA on November 6: Piano Quintets featuring the great works in the genre by Schumann and Shostakovich. A festive concert at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Lynnfield is presented on December 17: Christmas and Clarinet Trios featuring works by Beethoven and Brahms. Other repeat performances elsewhere in New England will be announced in the future. Stay tuned for details for the 2017 performances. Final NSCM Season Concert on June 5th: String Quartets

North Shore Chamber Music presents their final concert of the 2015-2016 Season with a Matinée of String Quartets on Sunday June 5th at 3 PM.  Beethoven's jocular and delightful String Quartet Op. 18 No. 6 is followed by Philip Glass's mesmerizing and hypnotic String Quartet No. 3, taken from his film score to "Mishima." The season ends with an intimate and lovely Quartet in A Major by Schuman. NSCM Springtime concert April 24th: Piano Trios

North Shore Chamber Music presents a fun-filled Matinée of Piano Trios on Sunday April 24th at 3 PM.  A trio of violin, cello, and piano take on many roles and impersonate: an orchestra in Rossini's "Barber of Seville" Overture and Saint-Saëns' "Danse macabre"; an Argentine folk ensemble in tangos by Piazzolla; and a hyper-caffeinated lounge act in Paul Schoenfield's "Café Music". Also featured is Dvořák's big-hearted "Dumky" Trio, which alternates frenetic Czech dances with soulful Slavic melodies. NSCM returns with February 28th concert: Duo Sonatas

North Shore Chamber Music presents a Matinée of Duo Sonatas on Sunday February 28th at 3 PM. This concert features wonderful duets composed between 1878-1932, featuring the luscious Rachmaninoff Cello Sonata, the jazzy Ravel Violin Sonata, and playful Honegger Sonatina for Violin & Cello. North Shore Chamber Music presents a Matinée of Cello Quintets featuring the great C Major String Quintet by Schubert and a quintet featuring the famous "Boccherini's Minuet." Come fill your soul before Thanksgiving break with some of the most sumptuous Schubertian melodies. On Sunday November 22nd at 3 PM, a string quartet with an extra cello will perform the two most famous works for this unusual ensemble. Friends of the Peabody Institute Library in Danvers, MA will present A Matinée of Clarinet Quintets performed by North Shore Chamber Music. This is the same program that was presented last spring featuring Brahms and Mozart clarinet quintets. The free public concert will be presented on Sunday, October 25th a 2 PM in the Gordon Room of the Peabody Institute Library, 15 Sylvan Street, Danvers, MA. 2015-2016 Season Opener: Mixed Ensembles in October

North Shore Chamber Music returns for its second season with a program featuring two colorful works composed for mixed ensembles. On Sunday October 4th at 3 PM, instruments will combine from each family, including strings, piano, clarinet, bassoon and trumpet. The broader palette of sounds match the spectrum of emotion explored. Messiaen's Quartet for the End of Time, composed in a Nazi POW camp, is contrasted with Martinů's The Kitchen Revue, a comical and jovial jazz ballet. Meet the Co-Founders of North Shore Chamber Music

Violinist Melissa Bull and cellist Scott Thomas Lesser together founded North Shore Chamber Music (NSCM) in Summer 2014.  After an exciting and memorable inaugural season, the leaders of NSCM have planned another series of concerts for the 2015-2016 Season.  They will be featured on the Duo Sonatas concert in February, as well as performing on all other NSCM concerts joined by Guest Artists.  Melissa & Scott previously played together as a duo performing for private weddings & events and recitals. They met playing chamber music in graduate school. Melissa & Scott also play together in several Boston-area regional orchestras. Learn more...

North Shore Chamber Music is pleased to announce the 2015-2016 Season. Sunday matinée concerts featuring a variety of ensembles are presented at North Shore Community Baptist Church in Beverly, MA. October 4: Mixed Ensembles, November 22: Cello Quintets, February 28: Duo Sonatas, April 24: String Quartets, June 5: Piano Trios. Compared to NSCM's Inaugural Season when a majority of works were by the great Austrian and German composers, NSCM presents this season music from around the globe. French (Messiaen, Ravel, Saint-Saëns), Czech (Dvořák, Martinů), Italian (Boccherini, Rossini), Russian (Rachmaninov, Borodin), American (Glass, Schoenfield), Swiss (Honegger), Spanish (Sarasate) & Argentinian (Piazzolla) music is on the menu. Germanic music lovers will still be pleased with NSCM's offering of a Beethoven's String Quartet and the great Schubert C Major Cello Quintet. Come and join us for this exciting musical journey!

NSCM String Quartet concert "stunning"!

Thanks to all who braved the weird February weather and joined us this past Sunday. What a fun string quartet concert! Hope to see you at the next one! Great music. Great friends. Great experiences. These are our simple but guiding principles for coming together to present a new chamber music series. We have programmed a season full of exhilarating masterworks that we are excited about sharing with you. We have brought along our friends and colleagues to play with us: some new partnerships and some collaborations that have lasted over a decade. We now invite you our audience, to accompany us in our journey. Along the way we hope to refine our mission by discovering what you desire most from our concerts. We intend to experiment with technology, to break down the walls between audience and performers, and to create a welcoming environment for all our listeners. We invite your feedback and collaboration in accomplishing our goals.  Join us this year: savor great music, engage with great musicians, and help us make every concert a great experience. We are looking forward to enjoying this year of chamber music together with you!

Meet the Co-Founders of North Shore Chamber Music

Violinist Melissa Bull and cellist Scott Thomas Lesser together founded North Shore Chamber Music (NSCM) in Summer 2014.  They will both be featured on the opening concert of NSCM's 2014-2015 Inaugural Season.  They will perform a variety of violin & cello duos on the "Meet the Co-Founders" September Concert, as well as performing on all other NSCM concerts joined by Guest Artists.  Melissa & Scott previously played together as a duo performing for private weddings & events and recitals including Indian Hill Music's Bach's Lunch Concerts where they will be returning again in May 2015.  They also play together in Accord Chamber Players and while studying at The Boston Conservatory were in a graduate string quartet.  Melissa & Scott also play together in Boston-area regional orchestras including the local Cape Ann Symphony where they both are string principals.   They are also section players in the Orchestra of Indian Hill where they played as acting concertmaster and acting principal cello for single 2013-2014 concert.  Melissa Bull is also Director of Worship Ministries at North Shore Community Baptist Church in Beverly which is where most NSCM concerts are presented.

Announcing New Classical Chamber Music Concert Series

A new chamber music concert series is coming to the North Shore, the communities north of Boston along the Atlantic coastline.  North Shore Chamber Music will present multiple classical music concerts with a variety of ensembles, from duos to sextets in their inaugural 2014-2015 Season.  Masterpieces from the Classical and Romantic eras will be the focus in this first season, including Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Brahms, Mendelssohn, Schubert, Schumann & Tchaikovsky, and more modern works by Glière, Kodály, & Prokofiev.  Concerts will be at North Shore Community Baptist Church in Beverly, MA.  View a PDF of the NSCM Inaugural Season at a Glance.
